Selecting a Helicopter Company
Planning a helicopter elopement in Banff begins with choosing the right helicopter company. There are two main companies within the Banff area with are Alpine helicopters in Canmore and Rockies heli in Cline river. These two companies have their pros and cons, so whatever is most important to you will be the best choice.
Alpine Helicopters offers convenience of location. If you're staying in Canmore or the town of Banff this is the closets option. The cons to this company is that they are only able to land at one location due to permits or you have the option to book through Marthas heli hikes for another landing location.
Rockies Heli is a good choice if you want lots of options when it comes to landing locations. Rockies Heli has multiple landing spots so whatever type of view you want to see they can do it! The down side is that this helicopter airport is a little ways out from the town of Banff, however it is a very beautiful drive and worth heading out that way!
Choosing Your Elopement Vendors
Once you have selected a helicopter company, the next step is to choose your elopement vendors. These include the photographer, officiant and florist. Look for vendors who have experience with helicopter elopements in Banff, as they will be familiar with the logistics and challenges associated with such events. Many vendors offer packages specifically designed for elopements, which can simplify the planning process. You can view mine here. Ensure that your vendors are available on your chosen date and can accommodate the helicopter schedule.
Planning the Itinerary
Creating a detailed itinerary is essential for a smooth helicopter elopement. Coordinate with your helicopter company to determine the best time for the flight, considering weather conditions and lighting for photography. Plan your day to include sufficient time for the helicopter ride, the ceremony, and any additional activities, such as taking photos at scenic spots. Ensure that all participants are aware of the schedule and any necessary preparations, such as appropriate attire and safety instructions. You will need to schedule an hour before departure to fill out paperwork and go through the safety instructions.
Preparing for the Big Day
As the day of your helicopter elopement in Banff approaches, make sure all arrangements are confirmed and everyone is on the same page. Pack essentials like your wedding attire, rings, and any personal items you want to include in the ceremony. Double-check the weather forecast and have a backup plan in case of unexpected changes. It's always good to bring warm clothes or things to protect you from the heat in the summer. Temperatures on top of the mountain are typically very different from what it is on the ground. On the day itself, stay flexible and enjoy the unique experience of exchanging vows amidst Banff’s breathtaking landscapes.
Conclusion
Planning a helicopter elopement in Banff involves careful consideration of various factors, from selecting a reliable helicopter company to choosing experienced elopement vendors. By organizing a detailed itinerary and preparing thoroughly, you can ensure a memorable and seamless experience. Embrace the adventure and cherish the stunning vistas that Banff offers, making your special day truly unforgettable. How Helicopter Elopements Work
Helicopter elopements can be a bit overwhelming to plan, however once you know how they work it becomes a lot more simple! There are a few things to keep in mind that will determine the outcome of your helicopter elopement experience.
One important thing to keep in mind is landing locations. Where you land depending on the company you go with (discussed later in this post), you won't be able to select a landing location until you arrive at the airport. This is due to weather and ability to land for that specific day. You can however start picturing your dream landing location so you can tell your pilot once you arrive.
Secondly, you want to keep in mind the different experiences the companies offer. Some offer 20 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours on top of the mountain. The time you have on the mountain will greatly determine your experience. In my professional experience of doing heli elopements 2 hours is the best amount of time to enjoy your time at the top.
